I've been interested in nutrition since I was very young. Being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 5 years old was a game changer. I've had to think about every little thing I eat from the very beginning. While most kids ate whatever they wanted, when they wanted; I was the 7-year-old at the birthday party scraping the icing off my cake because I knew what it would do to my blood sugars (and because my mom made me, ha).
As I came into adulthood and started a family of my own, this desire to make healthy food delicious grew into something more. I wanted to make food fun again for people who might have given up hope on ever enjoying food again. I wanted to help people realize that a diagnosis of diabetes, celiac disease, heart disease, etc. does not mean an end to delicious food!
As a busy mom, I also know the struggles that come with preparing and eating healthy food; and just how hard feeding myself, my spouse and tiny humans can be…yes, even the dietitian struggles sometimes.
I'm very passionate about what I do and helping people feel confident and joyful about their nutrition choices. I'm not a fan of rigid food rules at all, but when you have diabetes (or any other health condition that alters the way you want to eat) you're forced to analyze everything that goes in your mouth.
